During National Children’s Dental Health Month, Kids Teeth is committed to educating parents on the importance of early dental care. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends children see a pediatric dentist by 12 months of age or within six months after their first tooth appears. National studies are showing preschool-aged children are getting more cavities. In fact, one in four children in the United States has had at least one cavity by the age of 4, and many kids get cavities as early as age 2.
Kids Teeth Educates Local Children About Tooth Decay Prevention:
During the month of February, Kids Teeth visits daycare centers, preschools and schools all around Charleston County with an interactive puppet show that shows young children the importance of daily brushing and flossing, visiting the dentist twice a year, and maintaining a healthy diet. The 30-minute presentation introduces fun characters like Dudley the Dinosaur and his sidekicks Plaque Peddler and Tooth Fairy. Together with Kids Teeth hygienist, Cherie Work, they demonstrate and discuss proper brushing, dental care, and the importance of drinking water.
Each child that attends the show also receives a Kids Teeth water bottle to help remind children (and their parents) about drinking water between meals. Water is always the best choice! It’s great for our health, rinses away food residue (that often sticks on teeth), and has zero sugar.
