Preparing for your first dental visit
Kids Teeth is dedicated to making your child’s first dental visit a very positive experience. After you make your first appointment, we encourage you and your child to watch “The Kids Teeth Experience” video. Taking a moment to prepare your child helps us create a pleasant, comfortable first visit.
What to expect
The day of your first dental visit, we ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your appointment time and invite your children to play in our playroom. This helps them get acquainted with the new office environment and ease anxiety. We strive to make your child feel welcomed and comfortable from the moment they walk through the door.

The first visit will last approximately one hour. Parents are encouraged to join their children in the hygiene area. Younger children are asked to sit in their parent’s lap. During the exam, we want to get to know you and your child and encourage them to discuss any fears or anxiety they feel. Our staff will review your health and dental history and any chief concerns. Oral hygiene instructions will be provided in an age appropriate fashion. The doctors will review your child’s diet and any pertinent history of oral habits. We will conduct a comprehensive examination and in most cases, also clean your child’s teeth on this visit.

If needed, our staff will take x-rays to evaluate any potential dental decay or to evaluate your child’s growth and development. Kids Teeth will provide a thorough evaluation and summary of the visit that will outline any existing dental problems and proposed treatment needs along with preventive strategies for now and the future.
