Walk for Autism Charleston

Sending Out Smiles – The Walk for Autism Charleston

On April 22nd the Kids Teeth team participated in the Walk for Autism Charleston at Hampton Park. The Walk for Autism Charleston is a local 501(c)(3) agency that values the educational needs of children with autism. It began in 2003 from Lowcountry area parents who saw the need to provide ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) and alternative therapy for autism support to families and youth.

Walk for Autism CharlestonYear after year we choose to support the Walk for Autism Charleston because our pediatric dentists, Dr. Will and Dr. Mike, are specially trained to treat autistic children.  While most dentists can accommodate for special needs patients, this type of training is part of a two-year pediatric dentistry residency program that begins after graduation from dental school.  Behavioral management, child development and care for patients with special needs are just a few areas of study during the residency.  At Kids Teeth we know that caring for special needs patients takes extra compassion and understanding and our team is dedicated to providing this level of care. Please call us to discuss the individual needs of your child.

If you’d like to help support the growing number of children diagnosed with Autism consider making a donation to the Walk for Autism Charleston.  Although the walk is complete, they accept donations throughout the year.  Your donation will also fund scholarships for families to help pay for the treatment and intervention of autism through behavioral and relational development programs.
